Not everyone is excited about getting up early to workout, but here are 6 reasons why you should do it, and enjoy doing it.
So it doesn’t get pushed aside – How many times have you said you’re going to work out later on in the day, but it just doesn’t seem to get done? First you plan on working out on your lunch break, but then your co-worker bestie wants to go out to lunch, and you can’t say no to that! So you push your workout to right after work, but oops! Looks like you have to stop at the grocery store on the way home from work for dinner items so you’ll probably have to start dinner as soon as you get home. Let’s push it to after dinner. Oh man. That’s a bad idea. I don’t know about you, but after dinner, I’m just done for the day. Comfy clothes and chill with the family, right? That workout just isn’t gonna happen today now is it?
But if you had just done it first thing in the morning before the crazy of the day hit, well, you’d be all set!
You’ll have more energy throughout the day – I know it sounds counterintuitive. You’re using all this energy during your workout, so how would working out give you more energy throughout your day? I doesn’t make sense, but it’s absolutely true. If you’re feeling tired and have no energy during the day, you need to workout more. It’s strengthens your circulation and your heart muscles, which in turn will boost your energy levels. Exercise is the best way to combat fatigue so you can stay alert and energetic.
I know just how hard it is to stay awake during the days at the office, but ever since I’ve adopted a regular workout routine, I’ve had no problems getting through each and every day.
You’ll get better sleep at night – If you’re not getting the best sleep, adding in regular exercise, especially in the morning, will definitely help. Your body will be ready to go to sleep earlier because you’re getting up early. Plus, it will be craving the rest and and repair it requires each day. The days I workout, I can always count on a good sleep with very little issues waking up or tossing and turning, things I used to deal with.
It starts your day off on a positive note – When I’ve finished a workout first thing in the morning, I feel so pumped and on top of the world. I feel strong. I feel accomplished. I feel like I just have this extra hop in every step I take. I walk taller. I feel prettier and more confident. I feel like I could take on the world! Just thinking about how great healthy exercise makes me feel gives me a bit of a high. That’s how strong the power of exercise is.
It improves job performance – Exercising in the morning will give you better focus and alertness throughout the day, which can only mean good things for your job. If you feel like you’ve been slacking at work because you just don’t have the energy for it anymore, exercise is going to help so much, and I wouldn’t be surprised if your boss took notice. Seriously, what if your morning exercise could help get you a raise?! That right there would make me go set my alarm right now!
Early morning exercise creates a healthy habit for life – I’m not gonna lie. The first month or so of getting your butt up early for workouts is a total drag. It’s hard. It’s not very fun. And you want to give up. But then it starts to become a habit. And then you start to notice the benefits.
Then it gets to the point where you can’t imagine your mornings without a workout!
It may take a few months to get to that point. But it’s a million times worth it. Because it will just become a part of your life. You will be considered one of those dedicated healthy people. You know, the ones you’re secretly jealous of?
